Journey back in time with The Elizabethans to the England of Queen Elizabeth I. Imagine yourself as a guest at one of the castles where you are entertained by instruments, dancing, and madrigal singing. Brought to England from Italy in the 16th century, the madrigal flourished during England’s Renaissance, becoming a favorite form of entertainment.
The Elizabethans sing, dance and play instruments, dressed in elaborate gowns designed after those worn by the Queen's Ladies-in-Waiting. Their repertoire ranges from Renaissance madrigals to contemporary choral works.
The group performs in a variety of venues in the greater Chicagoland area. Bookings are available from September through May.
